Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator is a part-time (10 hours per week) independent contractor who serves as LOVEboldly's graphic designer, principal content creator, and advisor for communications strategy. You can find the complete job description, compensation, and application instructions below.

Position: Communications Coordinator

 

Organization: LOVEboldly, Inc.

 

Position Status: 1099 Independent Contractor, 0.25 FTE (10 hours per week)

 

Location: Remote with preference given to candidates in Ohio

 

Supervision Received: The Communications Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director, Dr. Ben Huelskamp.

 

Supervision Given: The Communications Coordinator has no formal supervisory responsibility but may work with the ED to manage volunteers.

 

Responsibilities

           

Graphic Design

  • Design content for social media, print media, the website, and organizational publications.

  • In collaboration with the ED, maintain and update the website.

  • Maintain branding and media guidelines and ensure that those guidelines are followed by internal and external stakeholders.

           

Social Media

  • Curate thoughtful and insightful social posts to promote LOVEboldly events and drive engagement and audience growth.

  • Grow LOVEboldly’s following across social media with special attention to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

  • Collaborate with communications teams from partner churches and organizations to cross promote content and outreach.

 

Programs

  • Recruit, schedule, edit, and post submissions for the #AskingForAFriend video series (one video posted every other Friday).

  • Recruit, schedule, interview, edit, and post submissions for the Creating Space Podcast (one episode every other week alternating with #AskingForAFriend series).

  • Edit and post recordings of webinars and other recorded programs.

  • Collaborate with ED on the planning for and creation of new video series, podcasts, webinars, and other programs.

           

Fundraising

  • Collaborate with the ED on fundraising campaigns.

  • Design promotions for fundraising events and place those promotions with advertisers and partners.

Qualifications

 

Required

  • At least two years creating content and managing media for a business or nonprofit (experience can include paid work, personal content creation/branding, or volunteer service including service for student organizations).

  • Experience using Wix or a similar website editor.

  • Experience using Hootsuite or a similar social media scheduler.

  • Experience using Mail Chimp or a similar customer communication platform.

  • Experience editing audio and video.

  • Appreciation for faith-based environments, particularly Christianity.

Preferred

  • Formal study and/or training in communications, graphic design, mass media, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of church and denominational structures common in Christianity.

  • Experience advocating for justice and the rights of marginalized communities.

Compensation

$15 per hour for 10 hours per week paid every two weeks. No benefits are provided for this position. The position offers a very flexible schedule and a remote work environment. There is potential for this position to grow with the organization.

 

This position is grant-funded through the end of 2023. Continuance of the position is contingent on further funding.

 

About the Organization

            Founded in 2011, LOVEboldly is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can flourish in Christianity. Engaged in a combination of education, consulting, coaching, outreach, and advocacy, LOVEboldly works in a variety of spaces to change the narrative regarding the Queer community in and beyond the church. During 2022, LOVEboldly completed a full rebrand including new logos, mission statement, vision statement, and public statement of affirming theology. We are deeply convinced that working across theological and ideological divides is necessary for success, but we will not be silent in the face of homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, racism, ablism, or any other form of oppression.
